Volunteers are at the heart of LESLA Alliance. Our work is community-led and made possible by people who choose to give their time, care, and energy to support others.
Volunteering helps us create welcoming spaces, deliver activities, and strengthen connections across our community. Whether visible or behind the scenes, every contribution plays a part in helping LESLA Alliance make a difference in Long Eaton
Volunteering with LESLA Alliance takes many forms and can change throughout the year in response to community needs and activities.
This may include:
We aim to keep volunteering flexible and proportionate, recognising that people have different interests, availability, and capacity.

We are committed to creating a positive, supportive, and inclusive volunteering experience. Volunteers can expect:
Volunteers are supported by LESLA Alliance and are never expected to take on responsibilities beyond what has been agreed.
In return, we ask volunteers to:
Some activities may require additional guidance or basic checks, depending on the nature of the role. All volunteering is guided by our safeguarding and volunteer policies.
If you’re interested in volunteering with LESLA Alliance, we’d love to hear from you.
Getting involved usually starts with a conversation about what you’re interested in, how much time you have, and how you might like to contribute.
LESLA Alliance is building a programme of community-led activity designed to strengthen connection, reduce isolation, and celebrate shared heritage in Long Eaton.
Our work is shaped by shared experience and community conversation. The activities below reflect the kinds of programmes we are developing and planning to deliver as the organisation grows.

We are developing a Community Hub that will provide a welcoming space for people to come together, connect, and feel part of the community.
The intention is to create regular opportunities for conversation, shared activity, and mutual support in a relaxed and inclusive setting.

We are exploring Out & About activities that encourage people to get out, reconnect with their surroundings, and enjoy shared experiences beyond the home.
These activities are intended to support wellbeing, confidence, and gentle social connection, particularly for those who may feel isolated.

Be a Friend is a planned companionship-focused activity centred on connection and presence.
Through simple, meaningful interactions, conversation, shared time, and check-ins, this activity aims to help people feel less alone and more supported within their community.

LESLA Community Table brings people together to prepare, share, and enjoy food in a relaxed and welcoming environment.
It’s about more than meals it’s about connection, conversation, and belonging. Activities under LESLA Community Table are designed to create shared moments, particularly at times of year when people may otherwise feel alone.

Alongside regular activities, LESLA Alliance plans to deliver community events and fundraising moments throughout the year.
Volunteering at events will offer opportunities to support:
